The Good Art Series
The Good Art Series features an artist or a group of artists each month for the year of 2014. The series was held at St. Susanna’s Parish in Dedham, MA. The goal of the series is to support the "Good Art" around us and create a forum for all of our local communities to come together and foster good fellowship. This series is free and open to all and for all people and all ages. It is our hope the series will take on a life of its own as the artists and those that support them come together and evolve.

January 10th, 2014 - 8:00 to 10:00 pm - Steve Marchena: Jazz Experience
We are very happy to feature the Steve Marchena: Jazz Experience on January 10th, starting at 8:00 pm. It is fitting to have them as the first event of The Good Art Series because Steve Marchena (Guitar), Penny Larson(Drums), and Kevin Nelson (Bass) are all local musicians who have been very active bringing good and wonderful music to our communities over many years. Food and beverages will be provided.

May 4th, 2014 - 3:00 pm - Dedham School of Music - Vienna In May Concert
The Dedham School of Music guest artists, Jana Bitte (Flute) and Luca Virgilio (Piano), will be performing classical music by F. Schubert, A. F. Doppler, and J. Strauss at Saint Susanna’s Parish, Sunday May 4th starting at 3:00 p.m. Jana and Luca are both visiting Dedham from Italy and have been very kind to agree to be apart of the Good Art Series while they are here. You do not want to miss this "Afternoon in Vienna with Viennese Music." This event is free and all are welcome. Please come and see what the Dedham School of Music and their guest musicians are all about. This is a wonderful way to support music in town, develop community, and enjoy a wonderful afternoon of Viennese music.

Steve Marchena will be conducting The Acoustic Led Zeppelin Tribute Orchestra Project (TALZTOP) at Saint Susanna’s Parish on Friday, June 13 starting at 8:00 p.m. There is no other orchestra like this one. It is a must see! 10-20 musicians on stage playing Led Zeppelin songs totally acoustic, The event is free and all are welcome. Please come and see what Steve Marchena and TALZTOP are all about. This is a wonderful way to support our local musicians, develop community, and enjoy Led Zeppelin like never before!

Tom Smith is a singer and song writer and will be playing at Saint Susanna’s Parish on Saturday, July 12 starting at 8:00 p.m. Tom has a sound that is all his own. His musical stories are wonderful and deep Tom is truly a one of a kind folksinger and he has a lot to share. The event is free and all are welcome. Please come and see what Tom Smith is all about. This is a wonderful way to support our local musicians, develop community, and have a good time all in one.

Sunday July 20th, 2014 - 7:00 pm - Criminal Justice Reform Gospel Benefit Concert
Saint Susanna Church in Dedham will be hosting a Criminal Justice Reform Gospel Benefit Concert including Gospel Choirs from several communities in Boston. Our hope is to raise hearts and minds to the issues and realities facing mass incarceration among our black brothers and sisters. Rev. George Walters–Sleyon who addressed our Peace and Justice / Adult Faith Formation Program on this issue will be co-coordinating this event. The concert begins at 7:00 PM. A free-will offering will be taken up to support the ministry of the Center for Church and Prison in Dorchester, and refreshment will follow.
Participating choirs include some of Boston’s finest:
Morning Star Baptist Church Choir, St. Paul; A.M.E. Choir, The Archdiocese of Boston Black Catholic Choir, New Hope Baptist Church Men's Choir, as well as “spirituals” soloist Thelma du Pont.

Hillary Doolittle will be playing the piano and singing popular broadway tunes at Saint Susanna’s Parish on Sunday, September 14 starting at 3:00 p.m. Hillary has been in many choirs over the years. Most recently, part of the Paulist Center Boston Choir. Her voice will lift you with its effortless energy, clarity, and joy! The event is free and all are welcome. Vessela Stoyanova and Valerie Thompson will be playing the cello, marimba, and singing at Saint Susanna’s Parish on Saturday, October 4th starting at 8:00 p.m. Vessela and Valerie are a duo of misfit classical musicians with an appetite for world music that has cut its teeth in rock bands, world folk ensembles, symphony orchestras and the occasional free improv outlet. Bob Bowers will be teaching us how to paint at Saint Susanna’s Parish on Friday, October 24th starting at 7:00 p.m. Bob Bowers has been painting and drawing professionally for 25 years. Formally trained by renowned artist Rita Guzzi, Bob will take us through painting an original painting. The cost is 20$. Adam McOwen will be playing his fiddle and tenor guitar with Steve Marchena on harmonica at Saint Susanna Parish on Friday, November 21st, starting at 8:00 p.m. Adam McOwen is a seasoned musician. He has shared the stage with Michael Brecker, Steven Tyler, Mariah Carey, and many more. He has opened for Alicia Keys, kd Lang, Z.Z. Top, and many more. He has recorded for film, television, and commercial releases. He has played Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage, and Madison Square Garden. Come and see what Adam McOwen is all about! Linnea Bardarson, Steve Cecil, Fred Civian, Natalie Jensen, and Lisa Seibert make up the band. The Good Art Series is very excited to have this Dedham based band come and finish out our 2015 season.
