The Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) is a 9-member team whose purpose is to
work with our Pastor to envision the long term needs of the
parish (e.g., a 5 year plan) and match needs with resources. The PPC meets
the first Sunday of each month (September-December and February-May) at
6:30 PM. Members serve for 3 years. If you would like to join, please submit
your name for the lottery that is held on Pentecost Sunday. Meetings are
open to all parishioners.
Peace and Justice Outreach

The Outreach Committee, which generally meets monthly) seeks to educate
the community on matters related to peace and justice issues including
war, torture, the environmental degradation of our world and human rights
and to bear witness to the hope of the gospel by bringing prayerful attention
and courageous, loving resistance to those things that are disharmonious
with God's Kin dom. Outreach members reach out in service and support
to the local and global community, encouraging our parish community in
these efforts as well. One ongoing service program that is in need of
volunteers is preparing meals as a group (a few times a year) for underprivileged
children at the Epiphany School in Dorchester.

The Prayer Group meets every Wednesday in the church from 1 PM to 2 PM
for prayer, devotion and Eucharistic adoration. All are welcome.
Social Committee

The social committee envisions, plans, organizes, and runs social events
(including annual parish trips, day trips, Italian dinners, Breakfasts
with Santa and the
Easter Bunny, parish barbeques, etc…) and fundraisers (e.g., parish
cookbook). The members of this lively and entertaining group gather on
Thursday nights and are

currently working on a Mardi Gras celebration
for February and a Spring fashion show. Come meet your neighbors and join
in the fun!
Spiritual Development Commission (SDC)

The Spiritual Development Commission (SDC) supports,
sponsors, and plans the spiritual endeavors of the parish, centering on
a personal and communal relationship with God through
prayer, reflection, meditation, spiritual reading, discussion, and the
occasional speaker. Our efforts thus far have included a day of recollection
(concluding with vespers) and a vigil and Mass for peace (co sponsored
by Peace and Justice Outreach and the SDC). Some of our future plans include
an ecumenical prayer service and an off-site retreat. The Commission meets
with Fr. Steve and Deacon Larry for discussion and planning.

Ushers welcome all to the celebration of Mass, distribute bulletins, and
assist with the collection. Women, men, and youth are all encouraged to
take part in this welcoming ministry.

Youth Faith Formation

St. Susanna Youth Faith Formation is a dynamic program whose premise is
that the books and paper
classroom method does not achieve the goal of a forming committed, active
Christians who feel part of the community. We have moved to an active
method of instruction-out of the chairs: theater (Nativity play and Jesse
Tree play), singing, dancing, hands-on (burning palms for ashes, making
crafts/cards for the homebound, Christian Service
|
locally and globally (e.g., INkind), audio-visual
presentations,
ministries of the Altar (e.g., Altar Serving, Lectoring, Eucharistic Minister),
learning the art of our
own church, planting seeds and bulbs to watch their faith grow, etc...

We are in need of people who are willing to share their talents with our
youth and help with the activities listed under Youth Faith
Formation. There is much more that we want to incorporate, such as a year
of visitations to other faiths, joint Christian Service with surrounding
churches, the Art of the Universal Church, retreats, making a prayer corner
to meditate in, eventually even Communion Calls for grades 9 and 10 to
homebound, and so much more!!
Although less organized, there are many people who volunteer their time
to make our parish the wonderful community that it is. Some people help
out in the sacristy by providing clean linens for weekly liturgies and
help keep our church environment clean. Teams rotate to count the collections
each week, while others provide training in the various diocesan mandated
programs to help provide a safe environment for our children. There is
also a federation of people who provide fundraising events on occasion
to both support the parish and provide wonderful nights out for our parishioners.
We are always open to the growing needs of the parish. One idea that
has come forward recently is for a “mothers’ group”
for those moms home with toddlers who might appreciate a morning together…..
